Summary: The Data Engineer at Travel Counsellors will be instrumental in developing scalable data solutions to enhance business growth. This role involves collaborating with data analysts and scientists to create data pipelines and a new strategic data platform while maintaining existing Microsoft technologies. The position requires a proactive approach to project management and continuous improvement in data engineering practices. The successful candidate will contribute to actionable insights and support the overall data strategy of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights through robust data models.
- Support the design and implementation of data pipelines to ensure accurate, consistent, and timely data across analytical and reporting needs.
- Develop a new data platform, transforming systematic data into a business view for reporting and analytics.
- Maintain existing Microsoft technology (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS) while delivering on migration plans to cloud-based technology.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes and architectures.
- Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data engineering, advocating for continuous improvement within the team.
- Lead data-related projects, ensuring timely delivery while balancing multiple priorities and stakeholder needs.
Key Skills:
- Highly proficient in SQL.
- Strong understanding of data modelling techniques, e.g., 3NF, Kimball.
- Experience using cloud-based data platforms and infrastructure, e.g., Snowflake, AWS, GCP, etc.
- Experience building data integrations and understanding best practices.
- Understanding of the development lifecycle and best practices.
- Desire to build relationships with an ability to deliver solutions to meet customer needs.
- Understanding of the regulatory environment and the need for data to comply with GDPR.
- Python programming (desirable).
- Experienced in the use of BI tools such as PowerBI/Tableau (desirable).
