Summary: The Data Engineer role involves supporting the delivery of data integration and reporting solutions within a regulated environment. The position requires hands-on engineering skills to design, build, test, and support data solutions across complex systems. The role is primarily remote with occasional on-site workshops in Telford and requires active security clearance. The successful candidate will work within an established data engineering team on enterprise-scale data platforms and pipelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain data integration and ETL solutions
- Develop and support data pipelines, transformations, and data flows
- Produce and maintain technical design documentation and engineering artefacts
- Work with structured databases, SQL, and enterprise data platforms
- Support testing activities including component, integration, and performance testing
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data and pipeline issues
- Contribute to CI/CD and source control practices (e.g. Git-based workflows)
- Collaborate with QA, engineering, and delivery teams across the lifecycle
- Maintain RAID logs and support delivery governance
- Participate in agile ceremonies and technical discussions
- Support production releases and post-deployment warranty periods
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where required
Key Skills:
- Active SC clearance is essential
- Strong experience in data engineering / ETL development
- Experience with any ETL tool (e.g. Talend, Informatica, Pentaho, SSIS, etc.)
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle or similar RDBMS)
- Experience working in structured delivery environments (Agile preferred)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g. Git)
- Experience supporting testing and production environments
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
