Summary: The Data Engineer role involves supporting the delivery of data integration and reporting solutions within a regulated environment. The position requires hands-on engineering skills to design, build, test, and support data solutions across complex systems. The role is primarily remote with occasional on-site workshops in Telford and requires active security clearance. The successful candidate will work within an established data engineering team on enterprise-scale data platforms and pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain data integration and ETL solutions
  • Develop and support data pipelines, transformations, and data flows
  • Produce and maintain technical design documentation and engineering artefacts
  • Work with structured databases, SQL, and enterprise data platforms
  • Support testing activities including component, integration, and performance testing
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data and pipeline issues
  • Contribute to CI/CD and source control practices (e.g. Git-based workflows)
  • Collaborate with QA, engineering, and delivery teams across the lifecycle
  • Maintain RAID logs and support delivery governance
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and technical discussions
  • Support production releases and post-deployment warranty periods
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers where required

Key Skills:

  • Active SC clearance is essential
  • Strong experience in data engineering / ETL development
  • Experience with any ETL tool (e.g. Talend, Informatica, Pentaho, SSIS, etc.)
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle or similar RDBMS)
  • Experience working in structured delivery environments (Agile preferred)
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g. Git)
  • Experience supporting testing and production environments
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
