Summary: The Data Engineer role involves building data models to provide insights and support the data engineering strategy. The position requires optimizing data pipelines and ensuring the quality and availability of raw data while maintaining a secure and compliant data architecture. The role is a 3-month hybrid contract based in Sunderland, with a focus on collaboration with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data engineering practices and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to create data models that provide valuable insights to business stakeholders, external stakeholders, and regulators.
  • Collaborate with Data Analysts to deliver efficient data models for analytics and reporting.
  • Support data queries and requests from immediate and wider teams.
  • Gather data requirements from key business stakeholders and analysts.
  • Define and document key logical and physical data models.
  • Produce and maintain a metadata repository for use across various business departments.
  • Ensure adherence to security-by-design and privacy-by-design principles.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in designing, building, and testing data products from multiple systems using various storage technologies and access methods.
  • Experience in maintaining and documenting large data sets.
  • Ability to manage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Cloud Technologies.
  • Experience with ETL and Orchestrator tools like Airflow, AWS Glue, etc.
  • Understanding of data modelling concepts and principles.
  • Experience with modern data warehouse technologies like Redshift, Databricks, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL.
  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance, and software improvement.
  • Experience with a broad range of technologies, including Python, Git, dbt, Docker, SQL Server, AWS, is highly desirable.
