Summary: The Data Engineer role focuses on regulatory reporting technology within the Finance IT department, requiring collaboration with a team to design, develop, and maintain data management solutions. The position emphasizes data quality, infrastructure design, and the creation of reports and dashboards to enhance business insights. Candidates must possess strong technical skills, particularly in cloud computing and data processing frameworks, while also demonstrating excellent communication abilities. The role is hybrid, requiring some in-office attendance in Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside a team of data engineers in the design, development, and maintenance of data management solutions, including data modelling, ETL processes, and data pipelines.
  • Develop and implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Design and build infrastructure.
  • Design and develop reports, dashboards, and visualisations to provide insights into business performance.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, including data anomalies, performance bottlenecks, and data quality problems.
  • Drive technical governance initiatives, including documentation, data lineage, and data access control.
  • Participate in architecture discussions.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Work with a collaborative global team of varied disciplines, skills, and experience.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with working with Cloud Computing (Google Cloud Platform preferable).
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language, e.g., Python.
  • Experience with data processing framework Apache Flink.
  • Experience with workflow management tool Apache Airflow.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Positive, proactive, and can-do attitude.

Salary (Rate): £650
