Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a Data and Integration team. You will develop, maintain and support data pipelines, integration solutions and data platforms that enable the organisation to collect, process, store and analyse information efficiently and securely.

Working under the guidance of senior engineers and architects, you will contribute to reliable, scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, Business Intelligence and future AI capabilities. You will collaborate with analysts, software engineers, infrastructure teams and business stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, accurate and fit for purpose.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with up to 2 years' experience who wants to develop expertise in modern data engineering technologies, cloud platforms and DataOps practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ingest, transform and load data from multiple sources
  • Support the operation and maintenance of enterprise data platforms and services
  • Assist in the development of data models, schemas and datasets for reporting and analytics
  • Monitor pipeline performance and resolve data quality issues
  • Work with Data Analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements
  • Participate in testing, validation and deployment of data solutions
  • Support data governance, security and compliance requirements
  • Contribute to technical documentation and operational procedures
  • Assist in implementing DataOps, DevOps and automation practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related incidents and service requests
  • Support continuous improvement across data engineering processes and platforms

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, IT, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related discipline
  • Up to 2 years' experience in data engineering, software engineering, analytics or data-focused technical roles
  • Understanding of database concepts, data structures and data integration principles
  • Basic proficiency in SQL and database querying
  • Knowledge of data modelling and relational databases
  • Experience using Python, SQL or other data-related programming languages
  • Understanding of data integration and transformation processes
  • Familiarity with version control systems (eg Git)
  • Understanding of data quality and data governance principles
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with support from senior colleagues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and engineering practices
  • Must hold or be eligible for SC clearance
  • Sole British passport holder (dual nationality not accepted due to security requirements)
