Summary: An opportunity has arisen for a Data Engineer (SQL) to join a prominent organization in the Insurance sector on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role involves supporting a migration to a cloud-based analytics platform and collaborating with various teams to solve business problems through data processing. The ideal candidate will possess strong SQL and Python skills, along with experience in data engineering practices. This position is based in London with hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with business stakeholders to understand high value business problems that can be solved through the application of data processing and analytical systems.
  • Helping to design, build and support a new cloud-based analytics platform for the business.
  • Being a core and professional member of the new Data Engineering Team.
  • Supporting other teams including data scientists and data operations analysts.
  • Understanding business requirements and help refine into development tasks and estimate their complexity.
  • Participating in code reviews for the Data Engineering Team

Key Skills:

  • A strong knowledge of SQL and Python
  • Working Knowledge of ETL tools like SSIS and reporting tools like SSRS.
  • Understanding of analytical modelling and cubes using SSAS.
  • A robust understanding of core data engineering topics - ETL vs ELT, structured and unstructured data, data quality and data governance.
  • Strong data modelling experience
  • A good understanding of traditional data warehousing and modern warehousing techniques and services.
  • You will need to understand the business process flow and translate it to build optimised data model - ie database structure. It would involve creating diagrams and models that represent data entities, their attributes, and relationships to ensure data consistency, integrity, and clarity for various purposes, including database design.

Data Engineer (SQL) - 12 month FTC

Salary up to £65,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well known organisation within the Insurance space in a SQL Developer/Data Engineer position.

The aforementioned organisation are embarking on a migration from on prem to the cloud and need a talented SQL focussed engineer to assist with the journey and improvements.

  • Working with business stakeholders to understand high value business problems that can be solved through the application of data processing and analytical systems.
