Data Engineer

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Markit EDM Engineer to join a global asset manager on an initial 3–4 month contract, with scope for extension.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Markit EDM (MEDM) and will play a key role in supporting and developing data solutions within a complex financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data solutions using Markit EDM (MEDM).
• Work with business and technology stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective EDM solutions.
• Develop and maintain data models, mappings, workflows and integrations within Markit EDM.
• Support data ingestion, transformation and distribution processes.
• Investigate and resolve data quality, integration and production issues.
• Work closely with wider Data Engineering and Technology teams to integrate MEDM with downstream/upstream platforms.
• Contribute to the enhancement and optimisation of existing data processes and architecture.
• Ensure solutions meet appropriate standards around data quality, governance, security and operational resilience.
• Produce appropriate technical documentation and support knowledge transfer where required.

Essential Experience

• Strong commercial experience working with Markit EDM / MEDM.
• Proven background in Data Engineering / Data Management.
• Hands-on experience developing and supporting EDM solutions.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience.
• Experience working with complex financial data.
• Ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated financial services environment.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within asset management / investment management.
• Knowledge of financial instruments, market data or investment data.
• Experience with data integration and ETL technologies.
• Cloud/data platform experience, particularly Azure.
• Experience with data quality, governance and lineage.
• Exposure to investment management systems and downstream data consumers.
