Summary: The Lead Data Engineer will join a leading technology consultancy for an initial 6-month engagement, focusing on the design and delivery of scalable data solutions. This role involves acting as a technical authority, providing mentorship, and collaborating with various stakeholders to refine requirements and implement cloud-based solutions. The position requires a strong background in AWS and hybrid cloud environments, along with proficiency in programming and CI/CD practices. The role is hybrid, requiring one day per week on-site in Stratford, London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as technical lead on key initiatives, providing guidance and mentorship to engineering teams
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Project Managers, and Architects to define and refine requirements
  • Translate high-level designs into scalable, production-ready solutions
  • Support solution architecture and contribute to transition and delivery activities
  • Contribute to and shape testing strategies and implementation plans
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison for scientific teams, translating research workflows into technical solutions
  • Design and implement cloud-based solutions for complex data and scientific workloads
  • Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps best practices
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to improve automation, reliability, and efficiency

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience with AWS and hybrid cloud environments
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Solid programming experience in Python and/or R
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Linux environments
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architecture and services
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architectures

Salary (Rate): £450 per day
