Summary: The role of Data Engineer involves supporting the development and optimization of data infrastructure within the energy trading sector on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud-based data engineering, particularly with Databricks and AWS, and will contribute to a high-impact project from the outset. This position requires regular attendance at the London office while allowing for hybrid working arrangements. The contract is initially for six months with the potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks and AWS services
- Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver reliable solutions
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a modern data platform
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and performance across data pipelines and systems
- Participate in the continuous improvement of engineering best practices, tools, and processes
Key Skills:
- Proven commercial experience with Databricks (including AKS)
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS
- Proficient in Python and/or Scala for data pipeline development
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL best practices
- Exposure to Power BI for data visualisation and dashboarding
- Experience within the energy trading sector, particularly the power market, is a strong advantage
- Understanding of market data flows and trading systems in the energy domain
