Summary: We are seeking an experienced Data Consultant to address significant data integrity and governance challenges within a retail organization. The role involves auditing existing data processes, implementing a strategic approach to Business Intelligence, and designing a robust data architecture. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical capabilities and proven leadership in data strategy and engineering, working closely with senior stakeholders to enhance reporting accuracy and consistency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a thorough audit of existing data flows, architecture, and reporting processes.
  • Identify the root causes of data inconsistencies and inaccuracies across systems.
  • Define and implement a clear, strategic approach to Business Intelligence and data governance.
  • Design a data architecture that ensures accurate, timely, and consistent reporting across all departments.
  • Evaluate whether Power BI is fit for purpose or if a more scalable solution is required.
  • Work closely with the Head of BI to shift the reporting model from reactive to strategic.
  • Provide hands-on data engineering expertise to clean, align, and re-structure core data streams.
  • Produce a comprehensive internal report with clear recommendations and next steps.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in Data Consultancy, Data Architecture, or Senior Data Engineering roles.
  • Strong technical knowledge of modern data platforms, reporting tools, and architecture design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead discovery, create strategy, and deliver execution across large-scale, complex data estates.
  • Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and challenging the status quo where necessary.

We are seeking an experienced Data Consultant with strong technical capabilities and proven leadership in data strategy and engineering. This is a critical role for a retail organisation currently facing major data integrity and governance challenges.

The Challenge: At present, the business has a fragmented and inconsistent approach to reporting. Key stakeholders, including C-suite and Heads of Departments, are arriving at board meetings with conflicting data sets. There is no unified source of truth, and reporting is reactive rather than strategic. The current BI function lacks the structure, visibility, and authority to resolve these foundational issues. There is an urgent need for someone who can roll up their sleeves, interrogate the existing data landscape, and drive the development of a robust, business-wide data strategy.
