Summary: The Data Business Analyst role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather and validate business requirements for software development projects, ensuring alignment with agile principles. The position requires effective communication between technical and non-technical teams, leading refinement sessions, and participating in agile ceremonies. The analyst will also conduct business process modeling and assist in user testing to enhance delivered features. Security clearance is required for this role, which operates outside of IR35 regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business requirements for software development projects.
- Work with the Product Owner and engineering team to translate business needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with designers and user researchers to understand user needs and translate insights into wireframes and design requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication between developers, designers, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead and run refinement sessions with developers to review, break down, and clarify user stories and requirements.
- Work with QA professionals to test engineering outputs and ensure acceptance criteria are met.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Conduct business process modeling and analysis to identify potential improvements.
- Assist in user testing, validation, and gathering feedback to enhance delivered features.
- Support in defining and implementing lean development practices.
Key Skills:
- Data focused with MOD experience.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with customers.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst in agile software development teams.
- Experience in secure environments, particularly within the Ministry of Defence (MOD).
- Familiarity with software engineering concepts.
- Ability to collaborate with designers and user researchers.
- Experience using agile project management tools such as JIRA or Confluence.
- Understanding of security best practices in software development projects.
