Summary: The role of Data Business Analyst involves supporting a Central Government client's transformation of its data landscape by collaborating with data leaders to develop a strategic vision. The position requires facilitating workshops and analyzing the current data landscape to identify inefficiencies and improve services. This is a unique opportunity to influence data management and governance within a large organization. The role is based in the newly established Chief Data Office and requires on-site presence up to three days a week in various hubs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with data leaders and stakeholders to co-create a strategic vision for data.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and engagement sessions to gather insights and build a community of support.
- Analyse and document the current data landscape, including systems, processes, governance, and key data assets.
- Identify duplication and inefficiencies across the organisation and contribute to service lifecycle improvements.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience supporting data strategy work in large or complex organisations.
- Must have worked in central government previously.
- Strong background in data landscape mapping, including systems, data flows, and governance structures.
- Ability to gather and translate user requirements into future business priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working across all levels of an organisation.
Salary (Rate): £500 daily

Are you passionate about shaping the future of data in a large, complex organisation? Our Central Government client is embarking on a bold transformation of its data landscape, and we’re looking for two experienced Business Analysts to play a key role in this journey.
You’ll be working at the heart of their newly established Chief Data Office, supporting the development of a forward-thinking Data Strategy and contributing to a major Hub and Spoke review of our data services. This is a unique opportunity to influence how data is managed, governed, and used across the organisation.

About You
We’re looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Business Analyst with:
- Proven experience supporting data strategy work in large or complex organisations.
- Must have worked in central government previously.
- Strong background in data landscape mapping, including systems, data flows, and governance structures.
- Ability to gather and translate user requirements into future business priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working across all levels of an organisation.
In return, you will receive the opportunity to support a major government department going through large data transformation. The possibility to work on a long-term contract, a 6-month contract £500 p/day (in scope of IR35). There will be a requirement to be on site up to 3 days per week in any of their main hubs: Warrington, Bristol, Birmingham, London, Peterborough or Reading.
