Summary: The Data Architect (SITS) role at the University of Warwick is a temporary position focused on implementing a new Akari system. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide deep, hands-on SITS data architecture expertise.
  • Define and assure the target curriculum data architecture.

  • Establish data ownership, authoritative sources, and lifecycle rules.
  • Define data standards, including identifiers and coding principles.

  • Provide time-bound enterprise data architecture leadership.

Data Architect (SITS) – Temporary Position – 9 Month Duration £550 Per Day Hybrid Working 36.5 Hrs Per Week

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to introduce a new Akari system within the University of Warwick. Working with a Solution Architect and an Integration Team, the role requires strong and deep expertise of SITS and enterprise level data architectural oversight to ensure a safe integration and transformation without major issue of a new system. A specialist Data Architect will provide authoritative architectural direction on how curriculum data is handled, governed, and integrated across Akari, SITS, and downstream systems. This role is intended to remove risk from the programme, establish a consistent architectural approach, and support future initiatives that rely on curriculum data.

The post holder:

  • Will provide deep, hands-on SITS data architecture expertise, grounded in how SITS is configured and used in practice to support curriculum
  • Be accountable for defining and assuring the target curriculum data architecture, grounded in what is practically achievable within SITS
  • Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the Akari academic data model and the project intent for Akari to operate as the single source of truth

Deliverables

  • Enterprise (Domain) Data Architecture
  • Define and document the canonical curriculum data model for the University.
  • Establish data ownership, authoritative sources, and lifecycle rules across Akari, SITS, and downstream systems.
  • Define data standards, including identifiers, coding principles, and referential integrity expectations
  • Define logical mappings and transformation rules between Akari and SITS.
  • Identify where rule-based automation is feasible and where exceptions or manual handling will be required.
  • Design a hybrid operating model that supports:
    • Curriculum structures in SITS that can align to the new model.
    • Legacy structures that cannot immediately align.
    • Ensure integration approaches are supportable, auditable, and scalable
  • Integration and Hybrid Model Design
  • Target SITS data architecture and configuration recommendations.
  • Akari–SITS mapping and transformation principles and rules.
  • A hybrid data and operating model.
  • Governance and Ways of Working
  • The architect will:
    • Operate under the sponsorship of the Architecture / Design Authority.
    • Produce architectural outputs that are reviewed and approved through established governance.
    • Provide time bound enterprise data architecture leadership for the curriculum domain.
