Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, document, and maintain the corporate data model and associated documentation.
- Create conformed data assets, including dictionaries and data lineages, to support information architecture.
- Provide data design and analysis advice for new and existing business solutions.
- Bridge the data centre of excellence with architecture teams for common design solutions.
- Lead data activities across multiple projects and small teams as necessary.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure commonality of information across the group.
Key Skills:
- Proven track record in data engineering, architecture, governance, and quality.
- Expertise in data model design, data mapping, and data mastering.
- Knowledge of dimensional modelling and warehouse implementation.
- Familiarity with common data formats (e.g., XML, JSON) and integration methods (e.g., APIs, GraphQL).
- Experience with data lakes, data hubs, and operational data stores.
- Understanding of reference and master data management.
- Ability to identify and own data architecture from high-level solution design.
- Proactive in identifying issues and liaising with architects and business colleagues.
- Experience developing an enterprise data platform on Azure.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
- Familiarity with scrum agile methodology.

Your role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Architect to join us on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Primarily you will be designing solutions on our strategic platform and guiding data engineering in their development as we extend the data provision for the enterprise reporting and analysis. The role is responsible for supporting the company's business transformation strategy to ensure the advanced line of business systems provide good data solutions that are aligned with the common data model and drive the consolidation and simplification across the business platforms by maintaining the data architecture and models. This role is key to achieving success within our Data Excellence pillar of our Data Strategy which has a primary objective of getting the right data, to the right people, at the right time by developing our flexible data architecture.
What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible for the development, documentation and maintenance of the Wesleyan corporate data model, data principles and associated documentation that meets the needs of the Society based on its strategy and goals.
- Working with data management to create conformed data assets including the dictionaries and data lineages to support the information architecture to manage data changes and maintain data lineage across the Group.
- Provide data design, analysis advice and guidance for the development and operation of new and existing business solutions.
- Bridge the work of the data centre of excellence with the architecture teams to ensure common design and correct solutions.
- Lead and provide advice on the data activities across multiple projects, including small teams where necessary.
- Ensure the architecture and data governance functions work in collaboration with key stakeholders to create commonality of information across the group.
We’re looking for:
- Proven track record of working with data colleagues who operate in specialist functions such as Data Engineering, Architecture, Governance and Quality
- Expertise in Data Model design, data mapping, data architecture and data mastering
- Expertise in dimensional modelling
- Good knowledge of warehouse implementation
- Sound knowledge of common data formats e.g. XML, JSON, etc.
- Sound knowledge of common data integration e.g. API’s, GraphQL, etc.
- Experience of implementing data lakes, data hubs and operational data stores
- Good understanding of Reference and Master data management
- Ability to identify and own the data architecture from high level solution design across a large programme
- Proactive in identifying and owning issues, liaising with Architects in other disciplines and business colleagues to identify solutions
- Ability to proactively identify opportunities to improve data solution architecture to ensure efficiency and quality and drive outstanding customer experience for end users
- Knowledge and experience of developing an enterprise data platform on Azure
- Hands on experience working with cloud platforms (Azure desirable)
- Familiar working within the scrum agile methodology desirable
