Data Architects are typically brought in at the start of a significant data platform build or modernisation programme, or when an organisation needs independent architectural review of its existing data infrastructure.

Experience designing enterprise-scale data models using dimensional modelling or data vault methodologies, alongside hands-on knowledge of cloud data platforms including Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS Redshift, or BigQuery, is standard across the market. Familiarity with data integration patterns, API design, and event streaming platforms such as Kafka is increasingly expected as organisations build more real-time data capabilities. Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and the tooling used to implement them is expected for roles with a governance focus.
