Summary: The Data and Analytics Manager will lead a team of five experts in data and analytics, focusing on people data and compliance reporting within the higher education sector. This role requires strong technical skills in Power BI and a deep understanding of HR processes to drive data-informed insights. The position is hybrid, requiring two days in Manchester, and is classified as inside IR35. The contract duration is 12 months.

Your Role

We are seeking an experienced Data & Analytics Manager leading a team of 5 data and analytic experts. This is a critical role that requires a blend of technical expertise in a deep understanding of people data, compliance reporting, People KPI's and a strong analytical mindset to drive data-informed insights using Power BI and other reporting tools.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven expertise in Power BI, including data modelling, dashboard design, report development, and advanced analytics and insights.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data flows across the employee lifecycle.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and developing a team of technical and analytical professionals.
  • Excellent data governance principles and practices, with a strong understanding of GDPR and other relevant data protection legislation.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver tangible business value
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of successful project delivery.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of ResourceLink
  • Knowledge of higher education sector-specific HR reporting requirements (e.g., HESA, ONS).
  • Experience with other business intelligence tools or data warehousing concepts.
