Data Analytics Developer - Power BI

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Analytics Developer - Power BI to design and develop reporting and analytics solutions that provide clear operational and management insight from complex data sources.

The role will support the development of a reporting capability for operational services where data accuracy, lineage, security and controlled access are critical. You will bring together workflow, case, quality and delivery data to create trusted dashboards and reporting solutions that support day-to-day management and evidence-based decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and datasets.
• Translate business requirements into effective dashboards, visualisations and reporting solutions.
• Build robust data models, DAX measures and calculations using Power Query and DAX.
• Integrate data from multiple sources and ensure reporting accuracy and consistency.
• Develop reusable reporting patterns to support a scalable analytics capability.
• Optimise Power BI dashboards for performance, usability and user experience.
• Work directly with business users, analysts and stakeholders to refine requirements through discovery and delivery.
• Implement appropriate security and access controls, including Row-Level Security where required.
• Define data-quality checks, reconciliation controls and clear definitions for key metrics.
• Document dataset lineage, data dependencies, refresh processes and production support arrangements.
• Support governed self-service reporting and ensure solutions follow appropriate reporting and data standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Power BI Developer/Data Analytics Developer.
• Advanced Power BI, DAX and Power Query experience.
• Strong understanding of dimensional data modelling.
• Good SQL skills and experience working with relational data sources.
• Strong understanding of dashboard design and data visualisation best practices.
• Experience working with complex operational or enterprise datasets.
• Ability to translate business requirements into practical analytics and reporting solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to work directly with business users.
• Understanding of data quality, reconciliation, metric definitions and reporting accuracy.
• Active SC Clearance is essential.

• Experience with Azure data services.
• Experience with Power BI Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience with Power BI deployment pipelines.
• Experience with Power BI gateways and refresh management.
• Experience delivering governed self-service BI solutions.
• Experience working within public sector, government or other highly regulated environments.
