Summary: The Data Analyst role in Glasgow, Scotland, requires an experienced professional with expertise in Payments and Ledger systems to enhance the OMNI and ODS platforms. The position involves translating complex business requirements into actionable data specifications and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with data governance standards. The ideal candidate will analyze data flows, define transformation rules, and validate data solutions while maintaining high-quality documentation. This role is primarily on-site for 2-3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to capture, analyze, and refine requirements for OMNI/ODS platform enhancements
- Apply strong Payments and Ledger domain knowledge to understand business processes, data dependencies, and downstream impacts
- Analyze data flows, source to target mappings, and data lineage across complex systems
- Define data mapping, transformation, and validation rules, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability
- Translate business requirements into clear, well-structured technical user stories and acceptance criteria
- Support solution design by clarifying data requirements, dependencies, and constraints
- Collaborate with development and engineering teams to ensure business intent is correctly implemented
- Validate delivered solutions against original requirements and programme objectives
- Ensure compliance with data governance, data quality, and regulatory standards
- Support UAT and data validation activities, including defect analysis and resolution
- Produce and maintain high quality documentation, including requirements, mappings, lineage diagrams, and business rules
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Data Analyst, ideally within large, complex data platforms
- Strong domain knowledge of Payments and Ledger systems (mandatory)
- Experience working with ODS (Operational Data Store) or similar enterprise data architectures
- Strong understanding of data flows, data lineage, and data transformations
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and user stories (Agile/Scrum)
- Experience working with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and compliance standards
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences
- Desirable: Experience in financial services or other regulated environments
- Exposure to data modelling (logical and physical)
- Understanding of APIs, event driven data flows, or streaming concepts
