Summary: The Data Analyst role at a leading Scottish public sector organization involves managing a data migration project, which includes cleansing, transforming, and mapping data from the current system to a new platform. The position requires ensuring data compliance with GDPR and retention policies while supporting the development of tools for data identification and archiving. Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleanse and transform data for migration to the new platform.
  • Map external data sources, interfaces, and third-party systems.
  • Document off-system data sources and identify critical data for transformation.
  • Evaluate localised reporting activities and determine reporting gaps.
  • Analyse off-system data sources for digitisation.
  • Ensure data compliance with GDPR and retention policies.
  • Support the development and implementation of tools for data identification and archiving.
  • Support the cataloguing and mapping of data fields used in critical processes.

Key Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with ETL methodologies and practices.
  • Understanding of data cleanse principles applicable to large data sets.
  • Ability to understand systems topography and develop data lineage maps.
  • Experience maintaining data dictionaries and recording validation criteria.
  • Knowledge of data compliance and GDPR practices.
  • Experience with data retention schedules and archiving principles.
  • Ability to map data flow between systems.
  • Experience with data exchange using interfaces and APIs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with project lifecycle and testing methodologies.
  • SQL skills for developing and interrogating views.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and SharePoint skills.
  • Experience with automated testing tools.
