Role Description This role is for a Data Analyst I, working within the Cars Data Science & Analytics (DS&A) team, and collaborating directly with the engineering team assigned to this user journey optimisation project. The specific project this role is intended to support is to optimise the user experience for customers that deep link into the app from paid search. This is a new experience for customers coming to the booking cars site, so while we have it already in place for rentalcars users, we want to ensure we can match the personalised and effective user journey on our core traffic. The team working on this project will need data & insights to not only inform them how they are progressing (trend & OKR tracking and reporting), but also need help coming up with suggestions for how to improve (insight generation). The successful candidate will be involved in various stages of data solutions, from ideation to implementation. You will be working independently on data consumption and preparation, effectively solving business problems through data analysis, insight generation and reporting. This role involves looking across the full spectrum of the app experience, considering how we might improve the customer experience by combining data from multiple sources. As a Data Analyst I you are expected to continuously learn, expand your technical competencies, engage with peers, and understand the larger data ecosystem. You are also responsible for ensuring the quality of your work through peer review. The successful candidate will collaborate with the product team dedicated to this project, helping steer decision making through relevant and actionable data insights & innovative new ways of looking at our business. You will be closely collaborating with other analysts, data scientists & machine learning scientists to develop strategic insights, uncover growth opportunities, and identify key drivers of booking trends. Key Job Responsibilities And Duties Responsible for owning the design and delivery of Data Analytics solutions based on business requirements, bringing them from the initial idea-generation phase to implementation independently. Responsible for working on consuming data, preparing it for analytical use, translating business problems to data stories and leveraging input from business stakeholders to determine the right technical solutions to deliver customer value. Responsible for leveraging previous knowledge, experience and skills in data analysis and data visualization to answer business questions in the most efficient way. They understand stakeholder needs and create intuitive and insightful visualizations that translate data into actionable insights to answer those needs. Effectively communicates, addresses stakeholder needs, and conveys complex analysis results in a clear manner. Responsible for being flexible in adopting existing internal and external Data Analytics approaches, proposing and spotting opportunities to apply new approaches and expanding their technical competencies and their peers’ when a more efficient way presents itself. Responsible for collaborating with peers in related crafts (ie.Data Engineering), anticipating data needs to ensure smooth progress of their individual projects, and for ensuring quality of their own work by validating it through peer review. Responsible for influencing business decisions within their product team.
Qualifications & Skills Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or similar) Masters or 3+ years of experience Experience solving real problems using data mining techniques and with statistical rigor Able to weave a narrative when presenting data Experience of CRO or App analytics tracking best practices Strong experience of using insights from disparate data sources.
