Summary: The Data Analyst role within the Planning Performance and Reporting team at the NSTA involves monitoring and analyzing industry performance while supporting the planning and reporting of NSTA performance. The position requires strong numerical and analytical skills to manipulate and present complex data, contributing to strategic insights that influence the energy industry's transition to net zero. The analyst will work collaboratively within a high-performing team to innovate data collection and communication methods. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact both internal decision-making and broader industry initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with colleagues to accurately scope and define requirements for analytical work.
- Assure the quality and timeliness of data submitted through the NSTA’s UK Stewardship Survey (UKSS).
- Manipulate, analyze, and present complex technical and commercial data.
- Develop and present analytical reports and insights.
- Create analytical dashboards, models, and tools to support technical and area teams.
- Benchmark performance using industry and NSTA data.
- Provide support to senior staff within the PPR team and across the NSTA.
- Take responsibility for an individual work area while collaborating with the team.
- Visualize data in new and creative ways using a unique industry data set.
- Support the annual collection and analysis of industry data via the UK Stewardship Survey (UKSS).
- Design reports and dashboards for internal and external communication.
- Support the use of new technology for data analysis and presentation.
Key Skills:
- Degree qualified in a relevant numerate/technical subject (business/economics/petroleum engineering/geology, etc.).
- Excellent numerical and analytical capability.
- Proficiency in handling data and the ability to manipulate, interpret, and present complex information clearly.
- Passion for rigorous data analysis and data integrity.
- Creativity in the presentation and visualization of data.
- Expert user of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive approach to tasks with the ability to solve problems and prioritize work effectively.
- Experience and understanding of the offshore energy or energy transition industry (desirable).
- Knowledge of data mining techniques and advanced analytical tools (desirable).
