Summary: We are seeking an experienced D365 F&O Functional Engineer for a 6-12 month contract to support the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of core business processes within D365 F&O. The role requires deep functional knowledge of D365 F&O modules and hands-on configuration experience to enable seamless operations across finance, supply chain, and project accounting domains. The position is based onsite in Lancashire 2-3 days per week and is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the analysis, documentation, and implementation of business processes in D365 F&O (eg, General Ledger, AP/AR, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting, Procurement, Inventory, etc.)
- Translate business requirements into functional specs and configurations using best practices aligned with standard D365 capabilities
- Support end-to-end solution delivery including gap analysis, configuration, data validation, and testing
- Partner with business process owners, solution architects, and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions
- Assist in developing training materials and conducting end-user training sessions
- Serve as a functional expert in workshops and design reviews across finance and operations workstreams
- Prepare and execute test scripts, lead UAT sessions, and validate configuration against business requirements
- Troubleshoot functional issues during implementation and post go-live phases
- Recommend enhancements and optimize system usability and adoption
- Design, configure, and extend D365 FO modules to align with business requirements
- Implement model-driven apps, business rules, workflows, forms, views, and dashboards. Perform data mapping, cleansing, and migration using out-of-the-box and custom tools
- Ensure integration solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise standards
- Work with technical product managers, architects, and business analysts to translate functional needs into technical solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and deployment planning
- Provide support and guidance during UAT, go-live, and post-production activities
Key Skills:
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O as a functional consultant or engineer
- Deep knowledge D365 F&O modules (either Finance, Procurement, Projects, or Supply Chain)
- Proven experience of configuration, development, requirements gathering & UAT
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid project environments
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills
