Summary: The D365 F&O Functional Engineer will support the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of core business processes within D365 F&O, focusing on finance, supply chain, and project accounting. This role requires deep functional knowledge of D365 F&O modules and hands-on configuration experience to drive enterprise solutions. The position is a 6-12 month contract, requiring on-site presence in Lancashire 2-3 days per week, and is classified as outside IR35. Interviews are to be conducted as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analysis, documentation, and implementation of business processes in D365 F&O.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specs and configurations using best practices.
  • Support end-to-end solution delivery including gap analysis, configuration, data validation, and testing.
  • Partner with business process owners, solution architects, and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Assist in developing training materials and conducting end-user training sessions.
  • Prepare and execute test scripts, lead UAT sessions, and validate configuration against business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot functional issues during implementation and post go-live phases.
  • Design, configure, and extend D365 FO modules to align with business requirements.
  • Ensure integration solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise standards.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and deployment planning.

Key Skills:

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O as a functional consultant or engineer.
  • Deep knowledge of D365 F&O modules (Finance, Procurement, Projects, or Supply Chain).
  • Proven experience of configuration, development, requirements gathering & UAT.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid project environments.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

We are seeking an experienced D365 F&O Functional Engineer to support the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of core business processes within D365 F&O. This consultant will play a key role in enabling seamless operations across finance, supply chain, and project accounting domains. The ideal candidate will bring deep functional knowledge of D365 F&O modules, hands-on configuration experience, and the ability to drive solutions that meet enterprise needs.

D365 F&O Functional Engineer Responsibilities

  • Functional Solution Design & Implementation: Lead the analysis, documentation, and implementation of business processes in D365 F&O (e.g., General Ledger, AP/AR, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting, Procurement, Inventory, etc.)
  • Translate business requirements into functional specs and configurations using best practices aligned with standard D365 capabilities
  • Support end-to-end solution delivery including gap analysis, configuration, data validation, and testing
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Partner with business process owners, solution architects, and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Assist in developing training materials and conducting end-user training sessions
  • Serve as a functional expert in workshops and design reviews across finance and operations workstreams
  • Testing, Support & Continuous Improvement Prepare and execute test scripts, lead UAT sessions, and validate configuration against business requirements
  • Troubleshoot functional issues during implementation and post go-live phases
  • Recommend enhancements and optimize system usability and adoption
  • Design, configure, and extend D365 FO modules to align with business requirements.
  • Implement model-driven apps, business rules, workflows, forms, views, and dashboards.
  • Perform data mapping, cleansing, and migration using out-of-the-box and custom tools.
  • Integration Development & Support Ensure integration solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise standards.
  • Collaboration & Technical Enablement Work with technical product managers, architects, and business analysts to translate functional needs into technical solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and deployment planning.
  • Provide support and guidance during UAT, go-live, and post-production activities.

D365 F&O Functional Engineer Skills Required

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O as a functional consultant or engineer
  • Deep knowledge D365 F&O modules (either Finance, Procurement, Projects, or Supply Chain)
  • Proven experience of configuration, development, requirements gathering & UAT.
