Summary: The Cyber Security Specialist role is a high-level position focused on defending against cyber threats in a high-pressure environment. The position requires expertise in intelligence, analytics, and advanced coding, with responsibilities including incident investigation, risk assessment, and mentoring junior professionals. This is a 12-month contract role based on-site in Manchester, operating inside IR35. The ideal candidate will have a significant background in cyber security and experience managing complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate cyber incidents and assess risks to recommend protective solutions.
- Conduct proactive cyber risk assessments and implement security systems.
- Manage large-scale cyber projects with limited oversight.
- Coach and mentor junior professionals within the team.
- Defend against cyber intrusions from various threats including insiders and foreign governments.
Key Skills:
- Significant background in cyber security, preferably in high-security environments.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and coding skills.
- Experience with SIEM tools like Splunk, QRadar, or ArcSight.
- Familiarity with Endpoint Detection & Response tools such as CrowdStrike or Carbon Black.
- Proficiency in network analysis tools like Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Knowledge of threat intelligence platforms and vulnerability management tools.
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python or PowerShell.
- Strong familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK frameworks.
- Eligibility for high-level security clearance.
