Summary: The Cyber Security Engineer role involves developing and securing a telemetry pipeline MVP with a focus on observability and secure infrastructure design. The position requires hands-on experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift, along with proficiency in GitLab and CI/CD practices. The role is hybrid, allowing for a mix of office and home working, and is a contract position lasting until March 2026. Candidates will be expected to monitor security events and collaborate with DevOps teams to embed security within workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing security controls across containerised environments using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • Ensuring secure configuration and access management within GitLab version control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Integrating and securing telemetry tools such as Cribl, Elastic, Splunk, Fluentd, and Syslog.
  • Conducting threat modelling, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis for telemetry pipelines.
  • Collaborating with DevOps engineers to embed security within infrastructure-as-code and deployment workflows.
  • Monitoring and responding to security events and alerts from observability platforms, while maintaining documentation of security architecture and incident response procedures.

Key Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift in secure production environments.
  • Proficiency in GitLab and secure CI/CD pipeline practices.
  • Knowledge of telemetry and logging tools including Cribl, Elastic, Splunk, Fluentd, and Syslog.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols, Firewalls, VPNs, and core security principles.
  • Experience with security frameworks such as NIST or ISO 27001 and related compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with container security tools such as Aqua, Twistlock, or Trivy.
