Summary: The Customs Administrator role in Market Drayton involves supporting the Customs Team Manager in managing customs documentation and compliance for exports. Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with officials to obtain Customs Certificates as required.
  • Prepare instructions and pro forma invoices for all shipments.
  • Apply for batch Certificates to maintain continual supply.
  • Liaise with Customs Brokers, vets, hauliers, and relevant authorities to ensure documentation for export is correct and completed on time.
  • Monitor the busy Exports email inbox, resolve queries or escalate as appropriate.
  • Prepare samples shipments, communicate with R&D and departments, book with fast parcel company, and provide relevant paperwork.
  • Complete supplementary declarations on the portal monthly within deadlines.
  • Support new team members with guidance and training.
  • Support senior colleagues with ad hoc tasks and project work.
  • Collate & review supplier information to prepare import instructions for Customs Brokers.
  • Monitor expected deliveries and liaise with relevant teams to ensure no delays.
  • Monitor the busy Customs email inbox, resolve queries or escalate as appropriate.
  • Provide clearance information to Fast Parcel operators for goods clearance.
  • Complete paperwork for re-export of returned/rejected goods.
  • Support the Senior Customs Adviser with ad hoc information requests/data collection.
  • Continuously monitor UK Global Tariff and document changes.
  • Verify accuracy of purchase invoicing reports from Brokers, add GL codes and GRN.
  • Raise Purchase Requisitions and process purchase invoices as required.
  • Complete assigned daily WorkFlow tasks to allocate commodity codes to new materials.
  • Complete and maintain documentation of processes for audit purposes.

Key Skills:

  • Strong administration and communication skills.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a customs environment is advantageous.

We are working with an international market leading client based in Market Drayton, who are looking to recruit a Customs Administrator to join their team on a fixed term contract basis. Reporting into the Customs Team Manager you will be part of a growing team and gaining in-demand skills and experience. The company can offer progression opportunities and a variety of benefits.

Initially you will work in the office in Market Drayton Monday–Friday, 9am-5pm for several months while training. Once fully trained you will have the option to work from home (hybrid working) for 2 days each week (3 days on site), but this will not be until you are fully trained which could take several months depending on the individual.

Responsibilities and duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Liaise with officials to obtain Customs Certificates for as required.
  • Prepare instructions and pro forma invoices for all shipments.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this excellent opportunity you must have strong administration and communication skills.
1 -2 years’ experience in a customs environment would be advantageous.
You will be well organised and be a self-driven individual to make sure tasks are fully completed within set timescales.
You must have excellent accuracy and attention to detail in your work as well as a good level of numeracy.
You must also have good working knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
The ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
The ability to find information which might be difficult to obtain and to challenge processes.
