Summary: The Curriculum Leader for the Construction Academy at Newcastle College is responsible for managing a team of construction professionals and supporting the Head of Curriculum to enhance educational delivery and learner experiences. This role requires a commitment to high standards in teaching and adherence to industry regulations, while fostering a positive team culture. The ideal candidate will possess relevant vocational qualifications and experience in curriculum design and innovation. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Head of Curriculum in managing the section to align performance with College key performance indicators.
- Line manage direct reports to ensure high levels of performance within the curriculum area.
- Support the Head of Curriculum in delivering a high standard of learner experience.
- Lead the implementation of industry standards and College requirements, including quality and health and safety.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality learning and assessment activities that drive learner progress.
Key Skills:
- Qualified to a minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery, Drylining/Plastering, or Roofing.
- Knowledge and experience of Construction industry practices and Health and Safety regulations.
- Hold a post-16 teaching qualification and the ability to teach consistently to a grade 2 (good) standard or higher.
- Hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths or be willing to achieve this within a given timeframe.
- Experience in curriculum design and innovation, planning, delivering, and assessing.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Appropriate IT skills for effective use of College reporting systems.
- Strong personal organization and ability to self-manage workload to meet deadlines.

We're looking for someone like you to play a key role in supporting the Head of Curriculum to continuously improve what we do, and how we do it.

Requirements
