Summary: Merton College is seeking a Curriculum Lead to oversee the teaching and development of programs tailored for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The role involves coordinating a delivery team, teaching Entry 1-3 level programs, and ensuring high-quality student support. The ideal candidate will have experience in curriculum development and a strong understanding of inclusive learning strategies within the Further Education sector. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead the delivery team for Entry 1-3 level programs.
  • Teach and develop curriculum focused on independence and employability skills.
  • Manage staff and ensure high-quality student support and learning.
  • Utilize resources effectively for program delivery.
  • Contribute to the future direction and planning of programs.
  • Teach within the Foundation Learning and Pathways course for up to 18 hours per week.

  • Understand and implement strategies for inclusive learning and progression pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation frameworks and assessment strategies.

Key Skills:

  • Current teaching experience at various academic/vocational levels.
  • Experience in motivating and guiding individuals and teams.
  • Ability to develop and deliver vocational programs.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development within Foundation Learning.
  • Understanding of SEND and associated progression pathways.
  • Familiarity with the Preparing for Adulthood agenda.
  • Experience with RARPA in vocational curriculum development.

Merton College is looking to appoint a Curriculum Lead to take responsibility for the teaching, learning and development of programmes designed to meet the individual needs of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Are you ready to apply Make sure you understand all the responsibilities and tasks associated with this role before proceeding.

Providing coordination and leadership of the delivery team, you will teach on, coordinate and develop curriculum on a range of Entry 1-3 level programmes, with a specific focus on the promotion of independence and the enhancement of employability skills for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. You will lead and manage the staff who form part of the delivery teams and ensure a high quality student support and learning is delivered. You will ensure the effective and efficient use of resources allocated to the programmes and contribute to the future direction and planning of programmes.

We’d like our Curriculum Lead to have current teaching experience on a range of academic/vocational levels, embedding Maths, English, employability and life skills. You’ll be experienced in motivating and guiding individuals and/or teams towards agreed objectives and have a demonstrated ability to develop and deliver on a variety of vocational programmes. There is also an expectation to teach within the Foundation Learning and Pathways course for up to 18 hours per week.

With current knowledge of curriculum development within Foundation Learning, you will understand the value of strategies for inclusive learning and associated progression pathways in the Further Education sector for improving opportunities for people with SEND. You will have a thorough understanding of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies within the Preparing for Adulthood agenda and have experience of vocational curriculum development within Further Education including RARPA.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. Closing date for the return of completed applications is 5th July 2026. Interviews will be held on 7th July 2026.
