Summary: The Cryptography Infrastructure Engineer (HSM Specialist) role is focused on enhancing the organization's cryptographic infrastructure through hands-on experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs). The position requires collaboration with various teams to design secure cryptographic solutions while ensuring compliance with security frameworks. The role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days on-site each week, and is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more HSMs (Thales Luna / Thales Payshield / Entrust nShield).
  • Implement and support monitoring & alerting solutions (e.g., Splunk, SNMP).
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to improve resilience, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Document solutions, write design/test specifications, and contribute to process improvements.
  • Support cryptographic key management and encryption processes.
  • Ensure solutions comply with security frameworks and regulations (PCI DSS, ISO2700x, GDPR, NIST, etc.).

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with HSMs (Thales Luna, Thales Payshield, or Entrust nShield).
  • Good understanding of SNMP, Splunk, SSH, SSL/TLS.
  • Experience in cryptography, PKI, and encryption key management.
  • Familiarity with Windows & Linux server administration.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, compliance standards, and regulations.
  • Strong documentation and stakeholder management skills.

Job Title: Cryptography Infrastructure Engineer (HSM Specialist) Location : London/Sheffield. Hybrid: 2-3 Days onsite in a week Contract Inside IR35 Rate: 480-500 GBP 6 Months Contract.

About the Role We are looking for a Cryptography Infrastructure Engineer with hands-on experience working with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) such as Thales Luna, Thales Payshield, or Entrust nShield. This role is critical in strengthening our cryptographic infrastructure, ensuring security, compliance, and resilience across the organization’s global encryption estate. You will be part of a specialist team responsible for monitoring, managing, and enhancing HSM observability, while collaborating with stakeholders and technical teams to design and implement secure cryptographic solutions.
