Summary: The Lead Risk Modeler role involves overseeing the review and transformation of risk model monitoring for a major UK Retail Bank, focusing on IRB, IFRS9, and credit & financial crime scorecards. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a review of existing risk model monitoring organization, processes, methodologies, and standards related to IRB, IFRS9, and credit and financial crime scorecards.
- Develop a transformation plan for risk model monitoring and secure client stakeholder buy-in for change initiatives.
- Execute the transformation plan ensuring low-risk changes to processes while maintaining existing service standards.
- Assess existing model monitoring processes for IRB and IFRS9 models for compliance with relevant regulations.
- Provide independent review and challenge of existing approaches and methodologies to ensure regulatory alignment.
- Address challenges with model monitoring of low-default portfolios and incorporate advanced techniques for data sparsity and uncertainty.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to communicate technical insights and influence decision-making.
- Stay updated on evolving regulatory guidelines and industry best practices, proactively addressing their implications.
Key Skills:
- Strong expertise in retail and commercial banking risk modeling.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks (CRR, CRD IV, PRA Supervisory Statements, EBA RTS).
- Detailed understanding of UK PRA SS1/23 related to model risk management.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead projects with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
