Credit Risk Specialist

Summary: The Credit Risk Specialist role at a financial services institution in Manchester involves managing the calculation of provisions under IFRS 9, conducting charge analysis, and reporting for the Group. The position requires collaboration with the 1st line Credit Risk team to assess portfolios and provide insights on provision scenarios. Additionally, the role includes monitoring the IFRS 9 model's accuracy and effectiveness while supporting governance and control processes. This is a 6-month contract requiring on-site work five days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Run the monthly provision (ECL) process for the Group and the PF division, delivering outputs and MI to support finance processes.
• Support provision input into key governance and control forums across the business.
• Review the provision modelling approach and highlight areas for development.
• Ensure the IFRS 9 model operates correctly, providing reporting and monitoring in line with Model Risk Management policy requirements.
• Provide analysis and monitoring to stakeholder and governance forums to demonstrate the effectiveness of the IFRS 9 model.
• Analyze and understand key changes in the portfolio and their impact on provisions.
• Maintain comprehensive governance, procedures, and records.
• Complete model monitoring of those owned by Quant Risk.
• Build and maintain a strong stakeholder network to share risk and IFRS 9 expertise across the organization.

Key Skills:

• Background in IFRS 9 (not essential).
• Numerical degree with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Relevant coding experience, e.g., SQL & Power BI.
• Modelling experience (not essential).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of fundamental data concepts.
• Solid grounding in data analysis.
• Experience using complex data.
