Summary: The Credit Risk Impairment Manager is responsible for overseeing the production, reporting, and analysis of IFRS 9 impairment actuals for key portfolios within the Credit Risk Provision and Forecasting team. This role entails managing the monthly impairment results cycle, ensuring data integrity, and providing insights through analytics and reporting. The position also involves stakeholder management and governance to ensure compliance with IFRS 9 standards. The role is offered on a 6-month contract basis via an umbrella company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the monthly IFRS 9 impairment production cycle, ensuring accurate, timely and well-controlled delivery of impairment results.
  • Review and challenge IFRS 9 model outputs, movements and key drivers of impairment actuals.
  • Maintain and enhance post-model adjustments (PMAs), including governance, documentation and justification.
  • Ensure results are appropriately reconciled and aligned with Finance for month-end, half-year and year-end close.
  • Develop and maintain impairment MI, dashboards and analytical reporting.
  • Provide clear quantitative and qualitative commentary explaining movements in ECL, staging, coverage and key risk drivers.
  • Support deep-dive analysis into portfolio performance, credit quality and impairment volatility.
  • Ensure outputs are suitable for senior management, Finance and risk governance forums.
  • Lead preparation of materials for Impairment Forums and senior risk committees.
  • Act as a key contact for internal and external audit, supporting reviews and closing findings.
  • Maintain robust controls, checks and documentation across the IFRS 9 production process.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS 9 accounting standards, internal policies and model governance requirements.
  • Work closely with Finance, Portfolio Management, Collections and wider Risk teams to ensure shared understanding of impairment results.
  • Support senior stakeholders with clear explanations of impairment outcomes and key judgements.

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience in IFRS 9 impairment production and reporting within Credit Risk or Finance.
  • Deep understanding of IFRS 9 methodologies, staging, ECL components and key judgements.
  • Professional SAS and Excel skills (essential).
  • Proven ability to explain complex impairment outcomes to senior and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong risk and control mindset, with experience operating in a well-governed environment.

Job Description: Credit Risk Impairment Manager 6 Month Contract Via Umbrella

Role Purpose

The Credit Risk Impairment Manager is an individual within the Credit Risk Provision and Forecasting team, responsible for the production, reporting and analysis of IFRS 9 impairment actuals for key portfolios (Retail and Corporate). The role focuses on end-to-end ownership of monthly impairment results , including data integrity, model output review, post-model adjustments, governance submissions, MI and analytics.
