Summary: The Credit Risk Analyst at Zenith Bank (UK) Limited is responsible for analyzing and reviewing credit proposals for various counterparties, including corporates and sovereigns, as part of the second line of defense. The role involves preparing independent credit assessments, managing daily limits, and supporting risk management initiatives. The analyst will also facilitate training and workshops to enhance credit knowledge within the organization. This position is integral to ensuring effective credit risk management and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and review credit proposals for corporates, banks, and sovereigns as the 2nd line of defense.
  • Prepare Independent Credit Assessments for Management Credit Committee.
  • Support daily limits management, collateral, and drawdown requests.
  • Assist in upgrading credit risk policies, processes, and controls.
  • Critically assess existing procedures and identify control gaps.
  • Independently assess credit applications and analyze financial information.
  • Facilitate drawdown requests and manage excess/unauthorized activity.
  • Perform periodic reviews of credit counterparties.
  • Work with Risk Administration on loan documentation and workflow matters.
  • Suggest and implement better credit risk assessment metrics.
  • Communicate the Bank’s Strategy and provide aligned credit advice.
  • Assist in up-skilling credit knowledge across teams through training and workshops.
  • Produce management information and reports for various committees.
  • Assist in analyzing KRIs and collaborate with Market and Operational Risk.
  • Support the Manager and Chief Risk Officer as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and regulatory developments.

Key Skills:

  • ACCA/CIMA qualified, CFA finalist, or Master of Credit Risk.
  • Credit risk trained with over 5 years of analytical experience.
  • Knowledge of legal, compliance, accounting, and market-risk issues in credit approval.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian/Ghanaian markets and sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with Senior Management.
  • Experience in a Trade Finance environment.
  • Driven, ambitious, and capable of delivering thorough analysis.
  • Strong understanding of control environments.
  • Good understanding of AML/KYC requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
