Summary: The Craftsman (Electrical Engineering) role involves performing engineering maintenance on electrical services, systems, and equipment within a hospital setting, focusing on both planned and reactive tasks. Candidates will participate in training to enhance their skills in various electrical disciplines, contributing to the operational efficiency of clinical services. The position is entry-level, aimed at individuals with a relevant electrical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience. Preference is given to internal Trust staff and those with 'Priority' or 'At Risk' status in Devon.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance work.
• Diagnose and repair faults on complex electrical and mechanical installations.
• Work on various hospital electrical systems including emergency generators, nurse call systems, and fire alarms.
• Manufacture, assemble, and install new electrical installations unsupervised.
• Perform repairs and maintain engineering plant and equipment.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Plan and manage daily work based on supervisor-issued work orders.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements and Trust policies.
• Participate in an on-call rota as needed.

• Proven electrical technical ability.
• Knowledge of trade principles and practices.
• Experience reading and implementing engineering drawings.
• City & Guilds Electrical Craft certificate or equivalent.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition BS 7671:2008 Electrical Regulations.

• Willingness to work towards Specialist Grade with relevant training.
• Proven working knowledge of computerised building management systems.
