Detailed Description From Employer:

Job Advert: Cover Supervisor (English) - Wickford KS3-KS4 | Part-Time / Full-Time | Immediate Start

Are you the kind of person who can walk into a room of teenagers and still remember why you got into education? Can you keep calm, keep order, and keep a straight face when a Year 9 confidently insists that Shakespeare "didn't have Wi-Fi so obviously wrote slowly"? If yes, we want YOU!

About The Role

We're looking for a Cover Supervisor to swoop into our Wickford secondary school and heroically guide KS3 and KS4 students through their English lessons. You won't need to mark essays about metaphors that aren't metaphors-but you will need to deliver pre-set work, maintain classroom harmony, and occasionally repeat the phrase "Phones away, please" like a calming mantra.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supervising English lessons with confidence, humour, and possibly caffeine
  • Delivering pre-prepared cover work (because we know teaching from scratch is a whole other saga)
  • Keeping students on task-even the ones who claim the dog ate their Chromebook
  • Channeling your inner Shakespeare/Attenborough/Strict-But-Fair Parent when needed
  • Being the dependable adult in the room… even if you occasionally Google the poem too
