Summary: The Core Banking Project Manager will lead the Core Banking Programme at Handelsbanken, focusing on the delivery of modernisation and transformation goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Run the Core Banking Programme as the Lead Delivery partner alongside the Product Owner and Lead Engineer.
  • Prepare for and execute the RFP process, including internal governance and commercial interactions.
  • Manage project planning, reporting, RAIDs management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Define and plan the Hosting solution and Strategic Workforce Plan for the programme.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to the Bank’s architecture and security directives.
  • Formally hand over to production and maintenance organisations.

Key Skills:

  • Record of successful transformation delivery in financial services.
  • Experience in external software and delivery partner vendor management.
  • Good understanding of financial product journeys and supporting operations.
  • Proficient in project management tools such as MS Project.
  • Experience in complex product migrations and data analysis.

The opportunity

Our team serves as the dedicated Delivery Strategy and Transformation hub within the Bank, focused on the successful and controlled delivery of the Modernisation and Growth roadmaps. Sitting with the Bank’s Technology function the team works to maximise the value from build/buy solutions to deliver on Handelsbanken PLC’s strategic modernisation and transformation goals to move to modern scalable technologies and to deliver better value to our business and our customers. The Core Banking Programme has been mobilised to deliver the phased introduction of the new Product Engine to sit at the heart of the target Architecture and is currently preparing for the RFP Phase. The programme’s vision is to service the Bank’s resilience agenda and to maximise the Business value delivered by the adoption of the target platform. A the core banking project manager in this role you will run the Core Banking Programme, acting as the Lead Delivery partner alongside the Product Owner and the Lead Engineer. Initial focus areas include: preparation for and the execution of the RFP, definition and planning for the Hosting solution (with Group and Local Infrastructure SMEs and Partners), definition of the Strategic Workforce Plan for the duration of the Programme; running prioritised enablers (eg Customer Permissions Solution), definition of the Product level Front Book Phasing and Migration approach balancing deliverability, business value with minimising adoption risks/costs Project Management across the full scope of the Delivery according to the Handelsbanken Project Management model including Planning, Reporting at multiple levels, RAIDs Management, 360 Stakeholder Management and Financial Forecasting and Control Organise, plan and manage the project within the agreed framework Preparation for and support for the execution of the RFP Process through to Award and then through the consequential internal Governance and commercial interactions leading to signing of the contract. Lead the Delivery, Technology, Business and 3rd Party Partner resources through the project’s lifecycle Manage day to day priorities to best support the big picture and committed in-year outcomes Ensure that the solution follows the Bank’s architecture and security directives and its Control Framework Formally hand over to the production and maintenance organisations.

Necessary Skills

  • Record of successful Transformation delivery in Financial Services to introduce modern platforms into the Production environment through the full lifecycle
  • External Software and Delivery Partner vendor management experience
  • Good grasp of the Journeys associated with vanilla Financial Products (Current and Savings Accounts, Lending) across individual and corporate sectors and the Branch and Function Operations that support those journeys
  • Confident using Project Management solutions such as MS Project
  • Previous experience in complex and phased Product Migrations including the data analysis and data outputs that support Migration design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Has the ability to build effective networks with stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Experience in complex Dependency management across multiple in-flight Transformation verticals
  • Experience in both waterfall and agile methodologies

Desirable Skills

  • Scaled Agile experience and Agile/Waterfall hybrid experience
  • Industry recognised Project Management qualification
