Summary: The Controls Systems Engineer role involves upgrading existing infrastructure using Siemens control systems to enhance the sustainability of the T&D network. The position requires ensuring compliance with technical specifications, understanding cyber security requirements, and providing technical support throughout project lifecycles. The engineer will also be responsible for configuration, testing, and documentation related to control solutions. This role operates in a hybrid working environment and is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with customer technical specifications on allocated projects.
- Understand cyber security requirements in control and automation systems (IEC62443, IEC62351).
- Develop and configure engineering control solutions.
- Configure and test networks (RSTP, PRP) utilizing software tools for analyses and fault finding.
- Produce/check all test documentation.
- Produce/check functional design specifications and design intent documents.
- Carry out FAT activities and provide SAT support.
- Address technical issues/support on allocated projects.
- Ensure solutions meet the latest policies and standards.
- Attend internal and external design reviews providing technical input.
- Provide technical input for tendering activities.
Key Skills:
- Experience of National Grid delivery and/or Control/Automation background.
- Experience of Serial and Ethernet based communication protocols and topologies (IEC60870-5-101/103/104, IEC61850).
- A minimum qualification of HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Industry.
