Summary: The Control Systems Engineer role is a six-month contract position based in Manchester, requiring expertise in Allen Bradley PLCs. The position is hybrid, with three days onsite and two days remote, and is classified as outside IR35. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and commissioning industrial automation solutions for bespoke equipment and complex manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and commission PLC control systems using Allen Bradley (Rockwell) platforms
• Develop and modify HMI and SCADA systems
• Integrate industrial automation and control systems with special purpose machinery
• Conduct fault finding, testing, and debugging of control systems
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers
• Support site commissioning and system handover

Key Skills:

• Proven experience in special purpose machinery, including bespoke automation systems
• Strong expertise in Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLC programming (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, RSLogix, Studio 5000)
• Experience with HMI and SCADA development
• Familiarity with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, Modbus)
• Knowledge of safety PLCs and functional safety is beneficial
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid working environment
