Summary: The Control Room Officer role involves supporting the operations of a Borough Control Room within a local authority, focusing on public safety, CCTV operations, and civil contingencies. The position requires effective resource deployment, compliance with legal standards, and collaboration with police and external stakeholders. This is an initial 3-month contract with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day operations of a 7-day Control Room service, ensuring effective deployment of resources.
- Operate and monitor CCTV systems in line with legislation, codes of practice, and internal procedures.
- Provide timely support to the Police, including supplying evidential recordings when required.
- Ensure full compliance with Data Protection, Human Rights legislation, and relevant surveillance laws.
- Record and manage access by authorised personnel, ensuring all activity meets statutory requirements.
- Prepare clear written evidence and attend court when necessary.
- Contribute to the local authority’s civil contingencies arrangements.
- Support partnership working with police and other external stakeholders.
- Assist with service development, improvements, and performance monitoring.
- Work as part of a rotating shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Maintain high standards of service delivery and keep up to date with relevant legislation and guidance.
- Carry out responsibilities with consideration for safeguarding, equal opportunities, data protection, and health & safety requirements.
Key Skills:
- Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 2 police check
- Valid SIA licence
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
