Summary: The role of Contract Project Manager (Automation) involves overseeing the full lifecycle delivery of automation projects for a well-established provider of warehouse automation solutions in Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This position requires a strong background in automation and project management, particularly in logistics and material handling environments. The role is exempt from IR35, allowing the candidate to operate via their own PSC if desired.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full lifecycle delivery of automation projects.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Collaborate with design, installation, commissioning, and client teams across multiple sites.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within automation, intralogistics, or material handling environments.
- Strong background delivering projects involving technologies such as conveyors, ASRS, shuttle systems, AMRs, robotics, or warehouse automation solutions.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders including internal teams, subcontractors, and end clients.
- Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, timelines, risk, and resource allocation.
- Strong understanding of full project lifecycle from design through to installation and commissioning.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering functions.
- Experience working within systems integrators or automation solution providers highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels.
- Relevant engineering or project management qualification desirable.
- Prince2, APM, PMP or equivalent - advantageous.
- SMSTS or equivalent site-based safety certification - beneficial.
