Summary: The role of Contract Electronics Design Engineer involves designing and laying out complex multi-layer PCBs using Cadence OrCAD/Allegro PCB Editor. The engineer will work on both analogue and digital circuits, support R&D projects, and prepare technical documentation. This position is based in Bedfordshire and offers a contract length of 3 to 6 months with potential for extension. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and layout of complex, multi-layer PCBs (up to 8 layers) using Cadence OrCAD / Allegro PCB Editor.
- Work across both analogue and digital circuits, covering microcontroller/microprocessor-based designs.
- Support ongoing R&D projects as well as updates to legacy designs.
- Prepare technical documentation (BOMs, build instructions, change notes).
Key Skills:
- Proven track record with PCB design in Cadence Allegro / OrCAD.
- Strong understanding of analogue and digital design.
- Knowledge of compliance and safe design practices.
- Experience in low-level firmware development in C/C++ would be advantageous.
