Summary: A Continuous Improvement Engineer with manufacturing experience is sought for a long-term contract in Bolton. The role involves setting up and governing Continuous Improvement (CI) reviews, facilitating CI plans, and supporting root cause analysis to reduce defects in the manufacturing and logistics processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing, knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. A formal technical engineering qualification is required, along with experience in CI and quality tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, support, and govern CI reviews to ensure robustness and sustainability.
- Facilitate and run CI plans for implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Support root cause analysis for externally supplied detail products.
- Reduce defective issues in the stores area, including rework and non-conformances using 8D/A3 methodology.
- Implement process controls and capability based on critical stores and logistics processes.
- Facilitate Practical Problem Solving for root cause analysis within manufacturing and logistics facilities.
- Manage improvements into the business.
Key Skills:
- Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21.
- Formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject or BEng in relevant Engineering or Science Degree.
- Strong manufacturing and warehousing background (preferable but not essential).
- Awareness of supply chain goods receiving practices (preferable but not essential).
- Understanding of MRP and Just in Time principles (preferably in a stores environment).
- Experience in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence teams outside direct reporting structure.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Ability to produce, maintain, and interpret data using a structured approach.
- Experience in managing projects and improvements from "cradle to grave".
- Understanding of manufacturing, logistical, and engineering processes.
