We are looking for a Content Designer for a 6 month contract, you will be crafting content solutions to help guide and assist users. You will also be responsible for creating clear and consistent content that aligns with user needsKey ResponsibilitiesLead on content design work for a project.Define what content guidelines, style guides and best practice are needed, and develop these with the team.Define user needs and write content that supports them. This includes microcopy, error messages, menu items, instructions in forms etc.Choose the right content type (for example words, infographics, video, or audio).Develop content that is accessible by default, considering accessibility from the start.Advise designers and developers on content requirements that will impact their work.Create and iterate content (from user research) across multiple channels.Work with user researchers to analyse data and do desk research to back this up.Collaborate with subject matter experts to define specific content requirements.Know how and when to challenge content that doesn't meet user needs (taking into consideration possible constraints such as legislative, business, time, budget, technology etc.).Set approaches for projects in collaboration with UX team.Review work from others and offer feedback.SkillsYou need to be able to:Have extensive experience and knowledge that leads to quick decisions on contentConfidently make decisions on what kind of content is best to use in a given situationHas experience creating and iterating content (from user research) across multiple channelsWork with user researchers and user experience designers to come up with hypotheses, develop journeys for testing, and analyse data from user researchConduct desk research to gain in-depth knowledge of a wide range of subjects quicklyDemonstrate that you know how and when to challenge content that doesn't meet user needsGive feedback on others' work in a constructive, helpful and kind mannerShow experience planning and leading workshops and managing multiple stakeholdersShow working experience in content strategy within an agile working environmentUnderstand how government writes accessible content in plain English formatExperienceExtensive experience as a content designer, preferably experience working within local or central Government or financial sectors.QualificationsA degree in something related to content is a nice to have (not essential).
