Summary: The Consultant Stroke Physician role at North Bristol NHS Trust involves contributing to the strategic development of stroke services in the region, focusing on acute stroke care and advanced procedures like Mechanical Thrombectomy. The position requires active participation in clinical duties, TIA clinics, and educational supervision of junior staff. Key Responsibilities:
- Management of acute admissions, including thrombolysis and thrombectomy.
- Supervising care for patients in Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU) and Acute Stroke Unit (ASU).
- Providing bi-weekly consultant-level input to patients in Sub Acute Stroke Rehabilitation Units (SSARUs).
- Delivery of TIA clinics at Bristol Royal Infirmary and neurovascular outpatient clinics.
- Clinical and educational supervision of junior staff, including senior clinical fellows.
- Contributing to training and education of the stroke team.
- Engaging in clinical audit and research activities.
Key Skills:
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- Full registration with the GMC and GMC Specialist Register at the time of appointment.
- Recent experience in UK hospital systems and practices.
- Clinical training equivalent to UK CCT in General and Geriatric Medicine, Neurology, or Acute Medicine.
- Experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular conditions.
- Proven teaching ability and willingness to teach medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
- Ability to lead a team and form effective working relationships.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
