Summary: The role of Consultant - Public Sector Governance involves leading governance and transformation initiatives within a boutique management consultancy focused on urban renewal and organizational change. The consultant will work closely with senior stakeholders to redesign governance frameworks and establish a PMO function to enhance oversight and alignment with strategic objectives. This position requires a strong background in management consulting, particularly within the public sector, and emphasizes stakeholder engagement and service design. The role is part-time for 9 weeks with the potential for extension or increased days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist a deep-dive review into existing governance and reporting structures
  • Engage senior stakeholders across departments to understand current challenges and opportunities
  • Assist with designing a revised governance structure, including clearly defined roles and responsibilities and a consistent and streamlined reporting methodology
  • Set up a fit-for-purpose PMO function that will support governance delivery, prioritisation, and programme tracking

Key Skills:

  • Management consulting experience, ideally in public sector
  • Proven experience in supporting on designing and implementing governance frameworks within complex transformation programmes (ideally public sector or housing)
  • Strong PMO leadership background with a strategic mindset
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, service design, and organisational change
  • Ability to rapidly assess, recommend, and implement fit-for-purpose structures and processes
  • Comfortable working in high-ambiguity and high-accountability environments
