Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultant and Approved Clinician responsibility for all patients on Willow Ward.
- Conduct prompt and comprehensive assessments of admissions, including diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Regularly review patient progress and ensure proper administration of the mental health act for detained patients.
- Prepare tribunal reports and attend tribunals as required.
- Delegate, organize, and supervise junior medical staff within the team.
- Contribute to shaping and developing the service as a clinical leader.

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a General Adult Psychiatrist to be part of a Multidisciplinary Team as a full time Inpatient Consultant on Sycamore Ward at the Derwent Unit, Chesterfield with Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Sycamore ward is an 18-bed ward with male and female wings for adults of working age. Sycamore ward is a part of a new purpose built Inpatient Psychiatric ward situated in the new 54 bed Acute Unit called Derwent Unit at Chesterfield, under the Making Room for Dignity (MRFD) programme of Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
As a clinical leader you will be involved in shaping and developing the service. You will also have opportunities to grow and enhance your skills as a clinician and develop evidence based innovative practices.
You will join a team of experienced and supportive colleagues who share good camaraderie and excellent working relationships.
The Consultant’s role is to provide consultant and Approved Clinician responsibility for all patients on Willow Ward . Consultants will be responsible for the treatment given to patients in their care; they will be responsible for the prompt and comprehensive assessment of admissions, for diagnosis and treatment of patients, for regularly reviewing patient and for the proper administration of the mental health act in relation to detained patients, preparing tribunal reports and attendance at tribunals. They will be supported by the junior medical staff and the consultant is responsible for the appropriate delegation, organisation and supervision of the junior medical staff in the team.
