Summary: The Consultant Physician in Acute and Respiratory Medicine will join the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust to provide clinical care within the Department of Emergency Care and Respiratory Medicine. The role involves outpatient care, participation in the general medical rota, and collaboration with community respiratory teams. The successful candidate will also contribute to service development, teaching, and departmental audits. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical sessions in the Acute Medical unit and outpatient care in the Lung Health department.
  • Participate in the general medical rota, including weekend and daytime cover.
  • Lead the development of the Respiratory Virtual Ward.
  • Supervise and manage junior medical staff.
  • Contribute to departmental audits, research, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Engage in teaching medical undergraduates and doctors in training.
  • Cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary for service efficiency.

Key Skills:

  • GMC registration.
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • CCT or equivalent in Acute Medicine/Respiratory Medicine.
  • Clinical skills in Acute or Respiratory medicine equivalent to level 2 of the Acute Medicine curriculum.
  • Experience in clinical audit and patient safety initiatives.
  • Desirable: Ultrasound accreditation and diploma level specialty qualification.
  • Desirable: Experience in acute take at consultant level.
