Summary: This role is for a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Glangwili General Hospital, aimed at enhancing services for the Women’s and Child Health Directorate in West Wales. The position involves clinical responsibilities, leadership, teaching, and participation in service development during a period of significant health service reconfiguration. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care and training opportunities. This role is integral to the ongoing development of comprehensive obstetric and gynecological services across the Health Board.

Key Responsibilities:

• Share responsibility for acute care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology during weekdays and out of hours.
• Support the development and delivery of new services in hospital and community settings.
• Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and Health Board objectives.
• Develop and deliver a comprehensive service in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and see patients in the Rapid Access Clinic.
• Provide improved training opportunities and participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.
• Act as Educational Supervisor to junior and middle-grade medical staff where agreed.
• Promote evidence-based clinical practice and undertake regular audits.
