Summary: This role at The Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences involves providing high-quality Neurology and Stroke services at Salford Royal Hospital. The Consultant in Neurology and Stroke Medicine will assess and treat patients in outpatient clinics, conduct ward consultations, and participate in clinical administration and meetings. The position is part of a large team of over 50 Consultant Neurologists serving a population of 3.2 million in Greater Manchester. Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and treatment of new and follow-up patients in outpatient clinics.
- Assessment of ad hoc attenders as necessary.
- Ward consultations on acute neurology ward, neurosurgery, and neurorehabilitation wards.
- Clinical administration.
- Attendance at weekly neuroradiology meetings.
- Hyperacute and Acute Stroke care delivery.
- Rapid access TIA assessments.
- General neurology outpatients in a spoke of MCCN and liaison inpatient neurology in MCCN or in a GM spoke.
Key Skills:
- Consultant-level experience in Neurology and Stroke Medicine.
- Ability to assess and treat patients effectively.
- Strong clinical administration skills.
- Experience in ward consultations and multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Knowledge of hyperacute and acute stroke care delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences - Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust - for a part time Consultant in Neurology and Stroke Medicine.
The role will contribute to the provision of a high quality Neurology and Stroke service to the Greater Manchester conurbation.
- Assessment and treatment of new and follow up patients in outpatient clinics.
- Assessment of ad hoc attenders as necessary.
- Ward consultations on acute neurology ward, neurosurgery, and neurorehabilitation wards.

The Stroke service is based at Salford Royal with Neurology principally based at the same site with spoke services at other sites within GM.
The successful candidate will join a large team of over 50 Consultant Neurologists at Salford Royal Hospital who provide outpatient and inpatient liaison services across Greater Manchester, covering as population of 3.2 million. The teams are well supported by middle grade and junior medical tiers, as well as Specialist Nurse teams across the range of Neurological sub-specialties.
The post will also involve general neurology outpatients in a spoke of MCCN and liaison inpatient neurology in MCCN or in a GM spoke.
