Summary: The Consultant in Elderly Care Medicine role at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust focuses on providing comprehensive care for elderly patients, emphasizing both in-patient and out-patient services. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expertise in Acute Comprehensive Geriatric Medicine and sub-specialties such as Stroke Medicine and Ortho Geriatrics.
- Participate in the management of 81 acute Care of Elderly beds across various units.
- Conduct General Care of Elderly clinics and Specialist clinics for conditions like Stroke, TIA, Falls, Parkinson's disease, and Dementia.
- Engage in proactive case management and support community healthcare teams.
- Contribute to training and teaching junior medical staff and other health professionals.
- Participate in on-call duties for general medicine as required.
- Engage in audit and clinical governance activities.
Key Skills:
- CCT - Dual accreditation in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Geriatric Medicine.
- Recent comprehensive experience in Geriatric Medicine.
- Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT.
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
- MB ChB or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in audit and clinical governance.
- Commitment to training and teaching junior medical staff.
- Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team.
